MyICA, MyNIISe and checkpoint apps
Digital clearance can make a land-border trip smoother, but your phone does not replace the need to understand the immigration rules for both countries. Keep your physical passport with you.

ICA says QR-code immigration clearance generated through the MyICA mobile app has been fully implemented at Singapore’s land checkpoints since January 2025.
QR clearance is available across land-checkpoint traveller flows, but ICA still advises travellers to bring their passports because a passport may be required for selected verification cases and is needed for the Malaysia side.
Malaysia has its own digital immigration services and requirements. MyNIISe and MDAC may be relevant depending on your traveller profile and current immigration rules.
Do not assume that every traveller must complete the same form. Check the Malaysian Immigration Department’s current requirement for your nationality and status before departure.
Before leaving, make sure the apps or QR codes you plan to use can open without hunting for passwords at the checkpoint. Keep mobile data available, charge your phone and keep your passport easy to reach.
Treat digital clearance as a convenience layer, not as a reason to travel without the documents required by either country.
