SG ↔ JB commuter guide
Woodlands vs Tuas for a Singapore–JB trip
There is no permanent winner between Woodlands and Tuas. The better crossing depends on where you start, where you are going in Johor, whether you are driving or taking public transport, and what the live queues look like.
When Woodlands makes sense
Woodlands First Link feeds directly into central Johor Bahru through JB CIQ and is usually the natural choice when your destination is JB Sentral, central JB or somewhere connected from the city centre.
It also has a large set of established cross-border bus options from Singapore.
When Tuas makes sense
Tuas Second Link can make more sense for western Singapore or western Johor destinations such as the Iskandar Puteri, Bukit Indah and Gelang Patah side.
Causeway Link publishes Second Link services connecting Jurong East, Boon Lay and Tuas Link with Johor-side destinations.
Do not choose by habit alone
Checkpoint traffic can change quickly around commuting peaks, weekends, school holidays and public holidays. A route that is normally shorter can become slower once the border queue is included.
Compare the crossing before departure. RunSGD is designed to keep checkpoint conditions separate from ordinary road or public-transport ETAs.
Official sources
Transport and immigration rules can change. RunSGD links to official sources so you can verify requirements before travel.
